Step two. Files go straight to my own storage — there is no size limit, a 500 MB WAV is fine.

Have we spoken yet? If not, start there instead — tell me what you have and I will send back a corpus map and a page of notation made for you. It takes two minutes and it makes the recording better.

If you already know what you are sending, carry on. This form is open to everyone.

Before you send: the recording notes take two minutes to read and decide whether a file is usable. The licence is short and you are agreeing to it below.

Instruments, objects, junk, voice, breath — all of it welcome, and object-made sound especially.

You Your name — required Your legal name. Not published — it is what makes the permission mean something. Credit name — required How you want to be listed on the release. A pseudonym is completely fine. Email — required So I can send you the notation, and the piece your sound ends up in. Did we already speak? Optional. If I sent you a reference or a notation page, mention it here so I can match things up. Where you are City and/or country, if you would like it in the credits.

The sound What is it? — required The source and the technique, in a sentence or two. "Bowed cymbal, close mic" is plenty. Does anything fade up out of silence? Slow bows, rubbed rims, swells. They have no attack for the slicer to find, so I handle them differently. Files — required WAV, AIFF or FLAC. Select as many as you like. Anything else This involves an augmented or self-built instrument — sensors, pickups, preparations, feedback, motors. (A standing interest of mine; I may write back wanting to talk further.) I would like a page of notation written for me. (Entirely optional — most people send what they already do.)

Rights I made this recording, and I have the right to license it. It contains no one else's copyrighted work. I agree to my credit name being published on the release. I have read and accept the licence: I keep my copyright and grant a perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use and transform the recording. The album is Creative Commons and may be sold. Send me the patcher and the technical detail.
