A Room For The Belated Sentences is written for TAK Ensemble, pre-recorded corpus material and live electronics. The electronics were operated by the composer. The work was made during the KEAR Electroacoustic Residency at Bowling Green State University.
The ensemble plays against an archive of its own recorded material. SoMax 2 and FluCoMa navigate that corpus in response to what is being played in the room, so the pre-recorded layer answers the live one rather than accompanying it — a sentence arriving late, after the moment that would have made it an answer.
Documentation note
Two recordings are available. The acoustic documentation presents the acoustic layer of the piece as performed in the room; Version 1 is a further edit. A recording of the full electroacoustic setting is not yet published.
