Craquelure brings together two forms of stored energy. A harp string is held under tension until a pluck releases its energy into vibration. A ceramic or porcelain surface appears stable until impact, stress or fracture reveals a network of discontinuities. The work searches for a region in which these behaviours become interchangeable.
